Coaching Tip:

Achieving Your Wellness Goals

Creating healthy habits, prioritising self-care, and focusing on your well-being lay the foundation for lasting change and a new way of living—a more balanced, fulfilling, and happier life.

This will look different for everyone. For some, it means finally being off medication; for others, it’s having the energy to play with their kids, while some focus on creating self-care routines and feeling good in own bodies.

Drawing from my experience, here are some key tips for achieving your wellness goals:

Step 1: Define Your Wellness Goal

No wellness goal is too big or too small. The key is to be clear about what you want. The concept of health and wellness goes beyond exercise and nutrition. It can also look like setting healthy boundaries, changing jobs, or improving your home environment.

If you’re unsure about your goal, take time to reflect and let the answer come to you. Often, we suppress what we truly need to change because the truth may be uncomfortable to face. Acknowledge these truths with compassion, and seek support if needed. Most importantly, be proud for taking this step toward a better life.

Step 2: Know Your “Why”

Once you’ve defined your goal, understand why it matters to you. This step tends to be omitted but it’s crucial for staying motivated and accountable, especially during challenges. Your why keeps you aligned with your goal, even if the method changes.

For instance, if your goal is to feel strong and build a healthy body, you might start running. If running isn’t enjoyable anymore, you can switch to swimming. The goal is to create a sustainable, joyful routine that supports your health and lifestyle.

Step 3: Break It Down

Break your goal into smaller, realistic steps. For example, if you want to lose 10kg, start with a goal of 1kg. Don’t overthink the process—start small and build momentum.

Consistency matters more than speed. Prepare for life’s disruptions, like holidays, by modifying your routine (e.g., walking on the beach instead of usual gym workouts). Remember, all movement counts, and your progress is uniquely yours.

Step 4: Take Action

Taking the first step is often the hardest, but it’s the most important. Set time aside for self-care practices, clear your fridge from unhealthy foods, apply for that job, or take any step towards your goal. Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment— there is no better time than now!

Step 5: Stay Consistent and Patient

Consistency is key, but “patience is a virtue“ as my mum says. Achieving goals take time, and progress isn’t immediate. Balance action with rest and allow yourself to recharge when needed.  In the ever fast world we live in, taking that rest and make time for downtime can be the most important yet the hardest thing. Learn through my mistakes and avoid burnouts at all costs.

Step 6: Embrace Lows and Falls

Lows are inevitable. Take them as opportunities for reflection and growth. Forceful energy won’t help you achieve your goals, so trust the process. Use challenges as teachers, and don’t forget to be there for YOU!

Step 7: Believe in Yourself

You are capable of achieving your wellness goals. Trust yourself, stay committed, and take that first step. You’ve got this— I believe in you and you should do too ! Good luck!
