Coaching Tip:

Balanced Eating

If you’ve read my article on intuitive eating and are still unsure how to start. Here are some simple tips to help balance your meals, support digestion, and avoid upsetting your stomach.

Balancing Your Meals

  • Add greens – Include greens in your meals, either as a side or by incorporating them into your dishes.

They not only help digestion and bowel movements, but also help balance your meal if other foods may be lacking in nutrients.

  • Balance protein, carbs, and fatsI know this is a very cliche tip that you’ve probably heard many times, but I’ve found that balancing all three on your plate is absolutely essential.

It’s easy to load up on carbs, but healthy carbs (e.g. cooked vegetables, whole grains, legumes) are crucial for balance. In fact, avoiding them can leave you feeling unsatisfied, which can lead to eating more later.

  • Know what works for your bodyDuring festive seasons, when eating out, or when invited by friends and family, choose foods that your body digests well.

If you struggle with digestion, listen to your body’s signals. If you want to try multiple dishes, consider smaller portions rather than cutting things out completely. Eating something just to please others isn’t worth your discomfort—your loved ones would rather see you well than struggling.

Ended Up Overindulging ? Simple Remedies That Work

We’ve all been there—even when we know better, we sometimes indulge. So if you overeat or eat something your body doesn’t love, here are some remedies that tend to work for me. I invite you to try them out.

  • Drink chamomile tea

  • Sip on ginger tea

  • Drink ginger juice diluted with warm water

  • Chew a piece of fresh ginger

  • Avoid drinking too much water immediately after a meal

  • Take a walk—even a few minutes can help balance glucose levels

  • Use cinnamon in your meals (e.g., in baking, tea, coffee, or porridge) to help regulate blood sugar and curb cravings.

I’d love to hear how you balance eating and support digestion—there’s always something new to learn!
