Coaching Tip:

Embracing New Ways Towards Your Health Goals

If you struggle to keep up with the new year’s resolutions, or maintaining the routines or healthy habits you set for yourself, I encourage you to try something different.

Here are some tips on how to take small, sustainable actions that can lead to improvement, growth, and change—without exhausting yourself with big, overwhelming goals in order to succeed.

Be More

Anytime is a great time to introduce yourself to mindfulness practices. Find stillness in solitude at home. Turn off your phone, turn off your TV, and just sit. If meditation is new to you, try staring at a candle or simply look at something—like a plant.

Alternatively, place your hand on your heart, listen to your own heartbeat, and take a moment to notice what you’re grateful for.

Feel More

Change of seasons, life transitions, and new chapters often bring up all sorts of feelings and emotions. Journaling — whether free flowing or structured — is a powerful way to process emotions before moving into something new. Remember to be compassionate with yourself. This is the time to reflect, feel all your emotions, and find the strength to move forward with clarity and space for growth.

Rest More

This isn’t about TV or Netflix time. I mean true rest. Spend time without devices, either on your own or with loved ones, and just be. Enjoy quality time with those who matter most —not necessarily through activities or even conversations, but appreciating each other’s company. Or perhaps cook your favourite meal, play board games, or dive into a good book. Rest is essential for rejuvenation.

Do Less, Achieve More

If you’re still motivated to hit the gym or go for a run, that’s awesome — do it and have fun!

But if you find your mind is willing but your body isn’t, take it slow. Go for a walk, do some stretching at home, or have a good dance in your living room. Remember, all movement counts!
